Celestial watching

If you have clear skies tonight, are in the US, and have a clear enough head (it is New Year's Eve after all), check out your southwest skies. You'll see a beautiful crescent moon, Venus, Mercury, and Jupiter. Yahoo News describes it in this article.

We've already been out to see what we can see, and so far, it's the moon and Venus; I had no idea it (Venus) would be so bright. What did you see?

Happy New Year!

We saw the Moon and Venus too on a very clear night in S Florida...we were wondering what that star was.

We saw the moon, Jupiter and Venus several weeks ago, but not the three with the moon. My chemistry professor got a great shot in mid-December of the two of them lined up with the moon, and he brought it in to share with us. It's so neat to see. We love star gazing. Erin and I were just out looking at the dippers last night, and we managed to see a shooting star while we were out, too. It never gets old.
