The view

from my window has improved dramatically in the past few weeks. The hydrangea bush, which someone before me trained into a tree, has exploded with ivory/ pink blooms, and about three days ago, they started to waft a honey-sweet fragrance right through my office window. I'm really enjoying them, along with the spirea, black-eyed susans, and hollyberry bushes, whose berries are beginning to turn from green to a mottled reddish color.

You'll see the edge of a curtain here in the second shot; it's the thing that makes the finches comfortable to come and eat while I sit here, type, talk on the phone, play with the kids, etc. They don't seem to mind at all if the curtain is gathered in the center of the window, but once I moved it to try and take a complete shot out the window, nary a finch could be found on their perch or on their feeder. Wily birds. They also enjoy sitting on the heads of the black-eyed susans and eating the seeds; it's so amazing to see a single flower stalk holding up this tiny, bright yellow bird, all the while it pokes and munches on the seeds.

Maybe we'll see what fall and winter bring outside the window....

Love the view, and that you have the bird feeder right outside of the window. The flowers are a huge bonus!
